Get Skinny Quick in a Few Short Steps

I am a personal trainer and I receive call continuously from women wanting to “get skinny quick” or who need information on how to lose weight fast. While I think it’s Ok to jump start your weight loss program and try to lose 10 pounds quickly by doing extreme things (like overly exercising) for the short term, I don’t recommend using this approach every time you need to reduce your weight. When you constantly regain the weight which you have lost, you must develop a lifelong program which will maintain your lower weight and keep you fit over time.

Let’s start with the basics. A lot of people have an unhealthy or difficult relationship with food. People who seem to gain weight no matter what they do have probably tried a number of different weight loss options over the years. They might lose the weight for a while, but sooner or later it starts to creep back on. I have had many personal training clients who have lost 10, 20 and over 30 pounds with me and then put it right back on. As a personal trainer, I got really frustrated to see all their time and effort count for nothing as they packed on the pounds all over again.

As a result, I’ve had to come with a wide variety of diet plans for my clients to help them lose weight and keep it off permanently. I always advice low calorie, nutrition dense foods plus the right exercises to help them slim down and get fit without starving themselves and spending hours in the gym.

What’s the best way to control your weight long term?

Fundamentally, it has to do with not taking in excessive amounts of calories. If you want to get skinny quick, also be sure that the calories you do consume come from all natural sources, not from packaged foods, so you can get all your nutritional needs without eating too much or eating things that are unhealthy. I also get my clients who want to lose 10 pounds fast to start becoming more active every day, with some exercise added to their daily routine as well. For further information on my philosophy of maintaining health and fitness, you should read my Fitness Contrarian Principles. Once you read the Fitness Contrarian Principles, you will know how to eat right, exercise properly and have so much energy that you will love living a new, more active lifestyle. (My Fitness Contrarian Principles are evolving constantly and I add new principles on a weekly basis.)

I have spent in excess of twenty-five years working with friends and customers to help them lose weight and I have concluded that there are those people who must reprogram their thinking in order to maintain a proper diet. They not only need to eat right, they need to totally re-connect with their bodies and diet and form a brand new relationship with a lot of ‘trouble foods’ that keep them locked in to being overweight. Should it be your intention to quit consuming the food that you believe is the cause of your problem, you need to be certain to look at the post entitled “Don’t Get Fat Fast.” In this blog post, I explain a way of re-framing your thoughts about food which can help you get skinny quick once you adjust your relationships with certain foods. This mental exercise regarding your relationship with food can be difficult, but it works.

Another tried and tested method I have used on my clients is occasional fasting diets. I authored a well-received post regarding my experience with fasting entitled “Fasting for Weight Loss.” I obtained a good deal of knowledge regarding occasional fasting from the program of Brad Pilon called “Eat Stop Eating Program.” You have to check out Brad’s web site Eat Stop Eating web site. Here you will find one of the most successful programs I have found concerning weight loss.
